Have you ever wanted to know what it’s like to create ice cream flavors? Are you bursting at the seams with all of these flavor ideas and no one to share them with? Do you want to eat ice cream every day? Then enter for a chance to be our LICT.

We want YOU (and a friend) to come visit us in our hometown of Brooklyn, NYC, July 17 – July 19, where we’ll kick off your role as our first official LICT. After arriving in NYC (with transportation covered!), you’ll stay at Wythe Hotel, a chic boutique hotel in Williamsburg with overlooking views of Manhattan. You’ll do a store tour with Van Leeuwen CEO and Co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen (where you can eat all the ice cream you want), spend time with our Research & Development team, observe a production run at our factory, and, of course, receive every Van Leeuwen pint flavor, along with custom merch and all the ice cream you can eat during a whirlwind trip.

After we kick off your role as LICT with a whirlwind, ice cream filled tour of NYC and you return home, you’ll help brainstorm new creations, receive monthly shipments of flavors to taste (for quality control of course), and test flavors in development. You will also get the chance to come up with your own ice cream special – perhaps even an unexpected flavor like some of the ones we’re known nationally for (including Hidden Valley Ranch, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and BIGFACE Coffee Affogato in partnership with NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler).

Application Process:

  • Starting 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, June 21, submit a video entry by emailing contest@vanleeuwenicecream.com telling us why you should be named our first LICT. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on July 6, 2023.
  • Questions to answer include:
    • Why do you love ice cream?
    • What’s your favorite Van Leeuwen flavor?
    • Why do you want to be the LICT?
  • When you submit your video by emailing contest@vanleeuwenicecream.com, include ‘LICT Contest’ in the Subject and your name, date of birth, state of residence and phone number in the message field.
  • Bonus points will be given to those who incorporate Van Leeuwen into their entries and contestants can post to social media to boost their entry using the hashtag #lictcontest. The best entries will be featured on Van Leeuwen’s social media handles.
  • The LICT will be notified of their win by July 10, 2023.
  • Contest winner prize includes:
    • A 3 day/2 night stay for the winner and a friend in NYC from July 17-19, 2023 at the Wythe Hotel, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on the Brooklyn waterfront and right down the street from Van Leeuwen’s factory.
    • Activities in NYC include spending time with the Van Leeuwen Research & Development team, observing a production run at the Van Leeuwen factory (and tasting ice cream right off the line) and joining Co-founder and CEO Ben Van Leeuwen on a scoop shop tour, plus much more.
    • A shipment of every Van Leeuwen pint flavor along with signature LICT merchandise and free ice cream for a year.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to legal residents of 48 contiguous U.S./DC (excl AK & HI) who are 18 years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence or older at the time of submission.
